“ Lord of mercy, I want to get out of here. Oh my god I want to go home. Let me out……..” Says a old lady wheel chair bound in a monotone voice. But you can tell she’s dead serious. She seems to be a trouble maker.
She tries to exit out the door but sets off a electronic beep, an attendant comes and says:
“Come on Vera, come away from the door. Can you take her back to her room?” She asks another nurse.
“I don’t want to go to bed, let me go…..” Vera complains.
“Come on Vera, put down your feet, let’s go.” The 2nd nurse commands.
“I don’t want to……” Vera says, but gives in later down the hall and helps push the wheel chair along with her feet..
What’s on your list of places you dread most? The hospital, a hospice, a nursing home, a vet office, Dr. office………The list could go on and on. Nursing homes are at the top of my “dis-like” list. But last night I had to go with my family to go a visit a widow who has been having health problems recently. {her husband died 2 1/1 years ago and her health has gone way down after his death.} Any way we went to visit her and I didn’t really like it. I mean she really enjoyed our family’s visit, but nursing homes just are creepy, weird, and sad all at the same time.
Martha {the lady we visited} was so glad to see us. We stayed awhile, visiting. I can tell it meant a lot to Martha. And apparently that nursing home is very good, clean wise and kindness among the workers wise. Martha doesn’t want to be in it, but she’s still too weak to go home. She says that God put her there for a reason and reasons. She mentions that she’s had the opportunity to witness to other people there and is getting stronger, little by little.
We met a another old lady in a wheel chair that came a sat in on our visit with Martha. She was a kind lady with dark hair that had hardly grayed at all, that was cut short. She had sharp observing eyes that watched everything. She also had a brown sweater on over the hospital-like gown. Her shoulders were slumped over. When she tried to talk to my little siblings and in turn my siblings tried to talk but they got embarrassed.
Mommy got on the computer there and showed Martha her blog and I showed her mine. Then it was time to go. D wheeled her back to her room where her sleeping roommate was. She had a little bed with a woven pink blanket on top of her bed. It all looked so snug. We bid her farewell and left.
The scene at the top was really sad…..I mean there you are, a old lady in a wheelchair begging to go out into the world. Back to your family, back to the life you had. But, everyone else know that you aren’t able to go out in the world and be safe. So everyone stops you. Her voice and that scene almost made me cry. I’m glad Grandma Cindy {She was my mom’s mom who had lung cancer. The lung cancer was a result of a terrible smoking habit she had. She died of a H1N1 flu and was unconscious for a while before someone found her. But by then it was too late for her to recover. She spent a weekend in the hospital and by the following Monday, she died.} wasn’t in a nursing home at the end of her life, being like Vera. Trying to get out at every moment. I miss her soooooo much! *sniffle sniffle*
So that was my experience in a nursing home yesterday. Hope you enjoyed, well there’s not much to enjoy on that subject.
Here’s a misc. picture that I want to throw in…..it’s a bird. I like this pic alot.
I know this is weird but…what’s the largest library fine you’ve ever gotten? I have a $6.80 one right now {I just paid that one} and I did have a $16.00 one once. Ouch! But I did pay it. ;)
The ducks still haven’t come back…..Keep positive, keep positive….. But they probably not coming back.
Another weird question.....has any one gotten a Frappe from McDonald's? They are so good. If so, what's your favorite kind? Mocha or Carmel?
